After a 2-1/2 month wait, my frameset came in today!!! Wasn't able to use a better camera, so here are some unboxing shots from my cell phone. Will post weights when I get more time.

DengFu FM066sl (first groupbuy)
Ordered as matte black. UD weave is visible
52cm BB30 Di2 compatible

Will be building this up using a mix of parts aiming for a sub 15lbs. build:
Full D/A 7800 (levers, derailleurs, brakes)
Rotor 3D+ Compact Crankset
SRAM Red OG 1090 11-26t Cassette
Reynolds Cirro SV Carbon Tubular wheelset

Check back for updates!

You say the UD weave is visible so this sounds different to Nick's (and confirms his finish is the result of a balls-up in communication). Can we have close-up shots please?

Looking back at my invoice, I requested a "UD matte finish" and not a "matte black" as I stated previously. So no foul up here, just me :P

Again, apologies for the not-so-good images. You can see that in certain light the UD weave is visible.

Yes, I was very confused by the different between "UD matte finish" and "matte black finish". In the end I specifically requested "matte black paint" on my order because I don't want to see the carbon weave. On my the excel invoice Lucky sent to me, it was listed as "UD matte finish", and I made sure to correct him to indicate matte black paint finish.

The frame looks beautiful though. Thanks for the great close-up images.

Hey rpster,

Can you take some nice close-up images of the extra holes on the downtube for what I think is Di2 battery mounting features.

Other images of where the cabling enters and exits the frame would be nice too, if you have the time.

Thanks,
Tux

That is what I would interpret as a UD matte finish. Looks great.

How tall are you? I'm debating dropping to a 52cm in order to get a low front end with a -6deg stem (the reach and standover of my 54cm FM015 is fine but I need to run no spacers and a -17).

new pictures.

added pictures of the fork and seatpost, both have the same finish as the frame.

seatpost features an insertion scale on the back

also added images of the headset races. they're partially covered with some paint, but the bearings drop in with no problems.

note* i did spot a small pinhole on the underside of the downtube.

the cable guide under the bottom bracket did not initially fit. had to be trimmed down using a blade to fit correctly.

last but not least, some images of the bb30 bottom bracket with di2 cutouts. very clean machining.

@Tumble i'm 5'8" (5'9" on a good day) and typically ride a 53-54cm. I wanted a shorter reach since my torso is not entirely proportional to my legs.

Great photos. That pinhole looks like a drain hole (given it is centred and looks uniform).

Think I will stick with a 54cm as the reach will be too short with a 52.

Looking forward to seeing this built-up - do you have all the components?

It is not a drain hole it is too far up the downtube for that. Mine has an identical hole, I assumed for Di2 wiring.

Isn't it too small for wiring or a cable?

Hope to build this up by next week. Have cables and a couple bb30 bearings on order. Otherwise, I'm mostly complete as I'm transferring most of my parts from my old Specialized Allez. Here's the preliminary build list:

DengFu FM066sl 52cm + fork + seatpost
Neco Headset
3T Arx 100mm stem + Ergonova bars
Fizik Pave CX Wing Flex saddle
Dura Ace 7800 (shifters, brakes, derailleurs)
Rotor 3D+ crankset + O-rings
SRAM BB30 bearings
Speedplay Zero Stainless pedals
SRAM OG-1090 cassette
SRAM PG-1070 chain
Yokozuma Reaction cables
Reynolds Cirro SV carbon tubulars + Vittoria Corsa Evo CX

The one big spec I'm missing is weight. Currently in the process of moving, so must find my scale somewhere.

Also, my cable stops seem to be stuck. I can remove the screw, but can't take out the cable stop. Any recommendations?

Is it just the clearcoat causing them to stick? Remove the allen bolt, insert an old piece of cable and try levering out.

I just slide a allen key into the cable hole and very gently levered them out. No effort required, one finger if that.

Interested in finding out what yours weighs

Mine, not yet finished, but with all parts and heavy 1070 cassette, chain and bar tape in boxes in bidon cages it is 6340g

Is that a sum of individual components or built-up weight?

Edit: you say in boxes so I guess not built yet.

@Tumble the almost built up weight, everything except chain and bartape attached, all cabling done, but not trimmed or tuned. The internal cabling is a challenge the 1st time. Just shoved the chain and bartape, still boxed into the bidon cages when bad light stopped the build process on Sunday night and weighed it.

Unlikely to finish it until Saturday, late finishes at work and tonight a couple of whiskys on the way home

thanks nicko, ill try doing that later tonight.

got a chance to weigh the frame and fork last night.

frame w/ derailleur hanger: 849g
fork (uncut): 344g
seatpost (uncut) w/ saddle clamp: 189g

i'm expecting this to be a very light build even with modest parts.

In what way? Any tips to ease the process for others?

Direct Carbon Frames from China

You are here because you love to ride, love a great deal and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.  This site is here for the same reason.  We built our own bikes from carbon fiber frames purchased from mainland Chinese manufacturers.  We read many forums, listened to sound advice, rolled our sleeves up and got to work.  The result is a lot of fun and we continue to build more bikes.  This site is the same. IT DEPENDS ON YOU.  What categories would you like to see?  What other content?  You speak we listen and then get to work making this the one stop for everything necessary to build your own bike from the frame up.  Let's have some fun.
